Spanish Pilot Experience: October 15th, 2020

October 16th, 2020. Ten professionals from the Road Maintenance and Operation Centre of the municipality of Torija (Guadalajara) tested yesterday the VRoad Virtual Reality application, as part of the pilot tests that the partners are carrying out in the four countries of the consortium -Spain, France, Italy and Portugal- to validate and analyse the efficiency of this teaching tool. 

In addition to the opinions of these sector workers, we were also able to count on the assessments of Acciona prevention managers, heads of road works, area managers and managers of the Torija Centre, who attended the officers of the European project of Fundación Laboral de la Construcción and GA Group. During the meeting, all the results achieved by VRoad in these twenty-six months of the European Alliance were presented:

• 'Analysis of learning outcomes'.
• Handy guide for trainers.
• The application of virtual reality to complement Health and Safety training for professionals in road works.

For more than four hours, workers in the sector were able to explore the virtual reality of VRoad by comparing it with their professional experience. The result, which was collected through a questionnaire that will allow the VRoad team to adapt or modify the tool in order to improve the deficiencies observed by current professionals in the sector.

The participants described the application as "real immersion", being able to experience the sensations of road work. In this sense, one of the main objectives of the consortium was to raise awareness of the danger of these works and to show the risks without real exposure.

This experience, developed in France at the BTP CFA Indre-et-Loire Training Centre, will be launched at the end of the month by the partners from Italy and Portugal, after which the application will be presented.
