FINAL OUTCOMES

The result of Lean.Co is a VET training program in Lean Construction, of 240 school hours, that has been developed by means of the Blackboard Learn platform, a well known management system of e-learning. The partners of this project have worked on this goal which is structured as follows:

PART 1: CONCEPTUAL LEVEL (40 hours)
2 days of face-to-face training -12 hours total- and 28 hours of e-learning

The first module of the course has the objective of providing with theoretical and general knowledge about the application of Lean methodology in construction in order to allow to the professionals to know and to understand Lean Construction philosophy and its principles. This part focused on the Lean construction concept and its main principles:

Trainers and trainees worked for two days in a workshop in which teachers, in addition, gave to the trainees two presentations and a document with the information of the module in order to realize, in the e-learning platform, a later practical activity and a final test.

 

PART 2: OPERATIVE LEVEL (160 hours)
8 days of face-to-face training -48 hours total- and 112 hours of e-learning

The second part of the course aims to provide with the specific skills that students need to master the different tools, methods and technologies related to Lean Construction, essential for professionals to apply and implement the principles and practices of the Lean Construction approach within the companies of the construction industry. This level consists of the following modules:

  • Integrated Project Delivery-IPD (30 hours)
    • 1 day and a half of face-to-face training -9 hours total- and 21 hours of e-learning

This unit was developed in virtual meetings across the e-learning platform. And the trainees had a presentation and a manual to make the practical activity and the final test to pass to the next module.

  • Value Stream Mapping-VSM (20 hours)
    • 1 day and a half of face-to-face training -9 hours total- and 11 hours of e-learning

In this case, the unit was developed in virtual sessions, through the e-learning platform, in addition to a workshop. The trainees had a presentation and a manual to pass the practical activity and the final test.

  • Last Planner-LPS (50 hours)
    • 2 days of face-to-face training -12 hours total- and 38 hours of e-learning

The third unit of the second module was carried out in two days of virtual sessions, through the e-learning platform, and a workshop. Its content was provided in two presentations and in a manual. The trainees had to do the practical activity and pass the final test.

  • Building Information Modeling-BIM (60 hours)
    • 3 days of face-to-face training -18 hours total- and 42 hours of e-learning

The unit about BIM technology was developed in three days, through the e-learning platform, which was completed with three presentations and a manual, in order to complete the activity and the test.

PART 3: TRANSVERSAL LEVEL (20 hours)

The aim of the third part of the course was to provide with tools and complementary information about other systems and standards of continuous improvement as well as of project management, quality management and environmental management like Kaizen Lean, 5S, ISO 21500, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.

The contents of the course were taught through the e-learning platform together with a presentation and a manual. The trainees had to do two activities and a final test.

 

PART 4. IMPLEMENTATIVE LEVEL (20 hours)
1 day of face-to-face training -6 hours total- and 14 hours of e-learning

The last module tried to provide professionals, in this process of qualification, with a methodology that allows them to transfer and to implement Lean Construction in the context of their companies.

This training was developed during a day in which virtual sessions and a workshop were carried out through the e-learning platform, with two presentations and a manual to carry out the practical activity and the final test.
