French Focus Group: January 29th, 2019, St Pierre des Corps (France)

January 30th, 2019. Yesterday our French partners BTP CFA discussed about the dangerousness of road works and the need to find solutions to protect workers and to increase safety measures in the profession with experts from the sector and training. The focus group was based on the experience of these professionals and apprentices of the industry, who thought that virtual reality is a very useful tool in the Prevention of Occupational Risks for its immersive feature.

During the debate, the participants highlighted the increase in the attractiveness of training in construction as a consequence of young people's interest in new technologies and the digital world, which has an impact on the labor market qualification.

In addition to these advantages, some of the points to be implemented, such as: the lack of information on how to act in the event of an accident; the need to reinforce the use of technical vocabulary; and the importance of using the indicated safety equipment.

Kick off Meeting: November 15th and 16th, 2018, Madrid (Spain)

November 19th, 2018. The VRoad project, part of the Erasmus+ programme, starts with the Kick off meeting of their Partnership in Madrid, at the headquarters Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (project leader), to discuss technical issues and coordinate the first steps of the initiative.

The project, which will bring together entities from Spain, Portugal, France and Italy for 24 months, is focused on training in Conservation and Operation of Roads in the European construction industry, through the development and the use of Virtual Reality tools.

An innovative project that promotes the use of new technologies focused on learning, as a system for improving and increasing the training processes for the immersive quality that enhances Virtual Reality. The use of these digital tools pursues the creation of motivated professionals with practical knowledge of their work tasks.

VRoad and its Virtual Reality application are part of the congress programme dedicated to 'Virtual and Augmented Reality', and more specifically to 'Innovative Educational Technologies', where the initiatives or projects focused on improving learning and a holistic vision of teaching and technology will be discussed.
