Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (Spain)

Fundación Laboral de la Construcción starts its activity in the year 1992, result of the social dialogue between the management and the trade unions of the sector: Confederación Nacional de la Construcción (CNC), CCOO de construcción y servicios; Federación de Industria, Construcción y Agro de UGT (UGT-FICA).

The aim to create this equal entity for the sector, through the general agreement of the construction sector, is to provide companies and workers with the resources that were making possible a more professional, safety, qualified sector and with future.

Fundación Laboral de la Construcción trains every year an average of more than 70.000 professionals of the sector. More than 3 million hours of training are provided every year, of which more than a third is destined to training in prevention of labor risks. It is compound by seventeen regional councils and it has 45 training centers distributed all over Spain. In order to provide over two hundred training specialties it is assisted by more than 1400 specialized trainers in multiples matters related to the construction sector.

Institut de Formation Sectoriel du Bâtiment (Luxembourg)

Training Institute of the Building Sector (IFSB) was created in 2002 by the building sector (sectorial federations). The company’s vocation is the training of all the employee categories, from workers to leaders, for the whole building and civil engineering skills field. The IFSB strategic development rest on four skills fields: technical codes of practices of the sector; sustainable Construction and Environmental Protection; Safety and Health of workers; and management.

The IFSB is positioned as the centre of the construction sector skills of Luxembourg, which anticipates the sector needs, as well as the emergence of new trades. Its activity focuses on Vocational Education and Training (VET) and continued training for the building sector. Annually, the Institute trains more than 4,500 trainees at its Bettembourg training centre and provides around 100,000 hours of training.

IFSB is integrated in national collaborations with Chamber of skilled crafts, Federation of craftsmen, national energy and safety national institutions as a key partner and are involved in safety and energy national campaign.

Open Universiteit (Netherlands)

One of the tasks the Open University of Netherlands has received from the Dutch government is to contribute to the innovation of Dutch higher education through research in the field of educational sciences. In her 30 year existence the university has become the expert in this field. Innovative education asks for domain specific expertise as well as expertise in the field of educational information and communication technologies. Therefore next to the domain specific research, research into educational sciences and educational technologies has a special place within the Open University.

The Welten Institute is the Research Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology of the Open University of Netherlands. Its research focuses on 'Learning and teaching in technology enhanced learning environments'.
Within this programme there are areas of interest:

  • Fostering Effective, Efficient and Enjoyable Learning (FEEEL).
  • Technology enhanced learning environments for teaching and learning (TEL).
  • Teaching and teacher professionalization (TTP).

Westdeutscher Handwerkskammertag (Germany)

WHKT (West German Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades’ Council) with registered offices in Düsseldorf is the regional council representing and joining together the seven Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades in NorthRhine Westphalia. Notwithstanding the independence of the individual chambers, it has the following tasks:

  • Coordination of opinions about uniform implementation of the joint tasks of the Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades.
  • Representing the common concerns of the Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades vis-à-vis the state government and the senior state authorities.
  • Maintaining the relations of the Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades with the other craft and skilled trades organisations, industry, universities and scientific institutions.
  • Implementing joint measures at state level in the interest of the all crafts and skilled trades.
  • Carrying out special tasks.

The specialist topics prioritised by the WHKT include craft and trade & industry law, organisational matters and vocational training and schools’ policy. In addition, the WHKT deals with economic observations and statistics, expert consultants, planning and environmental matters, Europe, multimedia, design and programming, and PR work.
The individual Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades are entrusted with dealing with the individual specialist tasks, which are divided among them under the central responsibility and control of the WHKT.

In addition to the above mentioned organisation profile, which we already provided, we would like to point out that - within Northrhine Westphalia with its population of 18 million - our organisation has access to required positions and stakeholders as well at regional as at federal level.

Scuola Costruzioni Vicenza Andrea Palladio (Italy)

Scuola Costruzioni Vicenza Andrea Palladio is a vocational training center devoted to construction sector and located in Vicenza District (northeast of Italy). It was established in 1948 on the initiative of the Constructors Association of Vicenza and the members of the Trade Unions to boost the vocational training in the building sector as an essential tool to refine workers’ technical skills and to improve their efficiency and productivity. Scuola employs around 40 staff including training, technical and administrative staff with full-time, part-time and casual contracts.

Scuola, which provides training to approximately 2.500 workers and students per year, is acknowledged at governmental level by Veneto Region for education and training in lifelong learning, apprenticeship, Higher Education, Compulsory Education for young pupils from 15 to 18 years old and Health and Safety issues, regulated by Italian law, for construction workers. Scuola is thus registered in the Italian net of certified Vocational Training Centers and it is recognized by Formedil which is a coordinating organization for vocational training in construction operating at national level. Scuola's quality system is certified ISO 9001: 2008.

Chamber of Construction and Building Materials Industry (Slovenia)

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (CCIS slov. GZS) with more than 160 years of tradition, it is the most influential business organization in Slovenia. CCIS is a non-profit, non-governmental, independent business organization representing the interest of its members.

The Chamber consists of more than 10.000 companies come from all sectors and all regions in Slovenia. Also, unites 26 branch associations, representing all important industry sectors of the state, under its roof. And has 13 regional offices in Slovenia.

CCIS has the status of a representative Chamber of Commerce and is thus partner for the government in preparing legislation and policy strategies. Also, is member of the Economic and Social Council of Slovenia, and in numerous government bodies, boards and committees, supporting them with knowhow and expertise in various areas of education and learning.

Centre IFAPME Liège-Huy-Verviers
Ifapme is a public interest organization subsidized by Wallonia. The letters of the acronym mean: Walloon Institute of Training in Alternation and Independent and Small and Medium Enterprises. Among its missions, the main objective of Ifapme is to offer training to professions in a multitude of professional sectors. This training is organized on the basis of the principle of alternation (courses at the centre and practical training in companies).

  • Training of apprentices (from 15 years old).
  • Coordination and training (from 18 years old).
  • Business training (from 18 years and up).
  • Alternative training of job seekers (with FOREm and Competency Centres).
